Kostas Loulakakis is a Professor in the Department of Agriculture, TEI of Crete. He holds a BSc in Biology from the University of Patras and an MSc and a PhD in Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology from the Department of Biology, University of Crete. He has worked as a postdoctoral fellow of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) and the Department of Biology of the University of Crete. He has been on the TEI of Crete teaching staff since 1989.
Research Interests
His research interests include plant physiology, molecular biology and biotechnology subjects such as the molecular physiology of nitrogen uptake and plant stress, the postharvest physiology of produce, and the biotechnological exploitation of secondary metabolites with emphasis on the use of essential oils from aromatic plants.
